About the RASC 2020 GA Logo

RASC Vancouver President, Gordon Farrell, designed our beautiful logo. It depicts a view to the North-West from above Burnaby Mountain and overlooking Burrard Inlet. The north-shore mountains are on the right and Stanley Park is the peninsula sticking out from the left in the middle.

The Trottier Observatory at Simon Fraser University, one of the GA venues, sneaks in at bottom left.

The seven stars in “Big Dipper”, as it is know in some cultures, are prominent in sky. Other nations and cultures were inspired by this asterism to create their own sky lore: The Government in China, The Great Cart in Germany, a Drinking Gourd in Africa. The Mi’kmaq saw the Big Dipper handle stars as hunters chasing the Celestial Bear in their sky lore.
